Our First Class

Our first class was really first class! Claire from The Vanity Case took a group of gorgeous students through the techniques used in the 1920′s and 30′s. Garnished with lashings of fascinating background on how make up developed too. For instance, the way in which make up fashion was very influenced by the brand new silent movie industry and the ways in which actresses were made up so their eyes and mouths showed up on the big screen.

Having recently enjoyed a screening of the 1934 classic “It Happened One Night” at The Embassy, I could really see the look so characteristic of Claudette Colbert emerging before my eyes!

Our lovely students were happy for me to snap a photo of them and publish it here.

Oh, and as you can see, the orange couches have arrived! I am making cushions for them. Do feel free to come and lounge on our couches; bring your knitting, hand sewing or a good book even. They are very comfy!

Best Wishes,

Maryanne
