Covering an old Lampshade Frame
March 22, 2014 @ 10:00 am - 4:30 pm
$100
Saturday 22 March 10am-4.30pm – Now Full. Refer next class on 21 June
At last, a class for those of you who have been saving a waisted Victorian or other fancy lampshade to re-cover. Normally in our classes we make the shades from scratch, which is a very different process. In this class, you will learn how to make a panel template, cut the panels, sew them together and clad the frame with its new cover.
To do this class you need to be able to use a sewing machine independently, have some patience and a sense of adventure! It helps if you have attended our Make a Lampshade class but it is not compulsory to have done so.
Participants will need to bring their own lampshade frame. Examples of the kinds we can work on are below:
If in doubt, please bring your frame in.
You will need to bring a fabric to cover your lampshade- the amount needed will vary. Allow 2m for an average size. We have a stunning range of bobble trims and a few fringes. Do feel free to come check them out beforehand. You are also welcome to bring your own if we don’t have one that goes with your project.
The $100 tuition fee covers use of equipment and sewing machines, does not include fashion fabric or trims. Class is limited to 4 participants because of its customised nature.
This class is now full, please check out the next one in June.
