Culotte Trousers
Wednesday evenings 22 & 29 April, 13 & 20 May 6-8.30 pm (4 sessions – no class 6 May)
Cost: $120
To register for the class (or to inquire about any class), please email Leimomi with your name, a contact number and the name of the class you’d like to be in as the subject line.
Make a pair of wide-legged culotte trousers – all the comfort of pants, with all the elegance of a skirt.
We’ll take the Wearing History Chic Ahoy slacks pattern, and alter the original 1930s pattern to make it more wearable in the modern world: adding pockets, changing the laced and button-front entry to a simple side zip, and lengthening the pants (if you wish).
Students will learn: advance pattern alterations, such as altering a crotch line and how to add pockets to a pocketless trouser pattern; advanced construction, including how to sew slanted front pockets that sit snug and flat against the body; and couture finishes, including a bias hem and petersham waistband.
Materials: Students will need to provide the pattern, and their own fabric and notions.
To register for the class (or to inquire about any class), please email Leimomi with your name, a contact number and the name of the class you’d like to be in as the subject line.
Level: Suitable for those with high-intermediate and above skills. Students should be comfortable reading patterns and constructing garments on their own. Students will be expected to do some sewing and cutting outside of class.
