Thursday evenings 24, 31 October, 7 November 6-8.30 (this is a three-session class)

Cost: $110 (includes handouts, a folder, and fabric for all examples).

Come spend three awesome nights with our hand-sewing expert (she sews ridiculous, huge, historical dresses totally by hand), learning how to sew a whole bunch of amazing, useful hand-stitches.

In the class you’ll learn:

  • The best materials and tools to use for different stitches
  •  Techniques to make handsewing as easy and stress-free as possible

You’ll sew examples of:

  • Three basic seaming stitches
  • Three helpful basting stitches
  • Four types of hemming stitches
  • Two amazing historical stitch techniques that allow you to create seams with beautiful interior and exterior finishes, with only one line of stitching
  • The standard buttonhole stitch; and
  • Tailors tacks

Hand sewingYou’ll  go away with a portfolio with your samples, as well as diagrams and descriptions for each stitch, suggestions of where they can be used (hemstitches can do SO much more than just hems!), and tips to learn more about them.

This class is suitable for any sewing levels, as long as you have a reasonable level of manual dexterity.

Sewing Level: Open. This class is suitable for any sewing level, even absolute beginners, as long as you have a reasonable level of manual dexterity.

Materials: students will need to bring a complete hand-sewing kit.  Details will be provided with registration, and all materials are available to purchase at Made Marion
