1930s inspired pleated trousers 2

Trousers & shorts can be daunting to sew because really nice trousers have all sorts of tricky details: a front placket, slanted pockets, belt carriers, waistbands etc.

Learn to get all of these just right with a few cunning tips and techniques as you bring your inner Katherine Hepburn to the fashion fore while making a pair of wide-legged trousers based on an original 1930s patterns.

We’ll start with Wearing History’s wonderful ‘Smooth Sailing’ pattern and learn how to adapt the pattern (and almost any trouser pattern) to have a front placket opening, slant pockets, and a curved yoke which sits at whatever waist height you prefer.

In order to take this class students must have fully fitted and adapted Wearing History’s Smooth Sailing Trousers pattern for their personal figure, and have made a completely finished pair of basic trousers from the pattern.

If you took Intro to Sewing trousers, the pattern you made in that class will do.  Otherwise please provide photos of yourself in your finished trousers to confirm your registration.
