Intro to Sewing Trousers: Wide-Legged trousers
May 30, 2017 @ 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Tuesdays 30 May, 6, 13, 20 June 6-8:30pm (four sessions)
Cost: $130 (+ students are responsible for purchasing their own pattern and materials)
To register for the class, please email Leimomi with your name, a contact number and the name of the class you’d like to be in as the subject line.
Learn the basics of trousers fitting and trousers construction as you make a pair of wide-legged trousers or shorts based on original 1930s patterns.
We’ll use Wearing History’s wonderful ‘Smooth Sailing’ pattern to make a pair of flattering wide-legged trousers or shorts with a high waist, single slimming pleat, and optional cuffs and belt loops.

The class will cover both basic trousers fitting, and construction techniques. You’ll start by making a toile, which we’ll fit to your figure, and then you’ll make a fully finished pair of trousers.
This class will be a prerequisite for Intermediate Sewing: Trousers Techniques & Pattern Adaptations, which will be offered in August, where we’ll take your perfectly fitted Smooth Sailing pattern, add angled pockets, a front placket zipper, and a curved yoke, so that the trousers sit on the hips, rather than at the natural waist.
Low Intermediate = Suitable for those with low-intermediate and higher sewing experience. This is an excellent first-trouser pattern, and an excellent introduction to vintage sewing. Some students may be able to take this as a follow up to Absolute Beginners Sewing
Cost: $130 (+ students are responsible for purchasing their own pattern and materials).
Materials: Students will need to purchase their own pattern, and bring the materials called for in the pattern
