Pressing and Interfacing – Saturday Skills

August 5, 2017 @ 2:00 pm - 4:30 pm

$40

One Class Saturday 5 August 2pm-4.30pm $40, includes materials for samples and a pressing cloth to keep. Tutor: Maryanne

A quick, intensive skill builder class about interfacings and pressing techniques.

We’ll be covering:

  • what interfacings are available and what they do – from chiffon to winter coats and a few stops in between!
  • why we use them and how – rigidity vs stability vs weight and drape etc
  • pressing – different ways to use your iron while sewing to get the best finish
  • when steam, why steam, when not to steam!
  • cleaning your iron

You will get to make samples and take notes, building up a good reference for the future. And as always you get to ask questions and interact and learn from me and the other students.

This class is suitable for sewists of all levels, as it is designed to fill gaps in your knowledge, and expand understanding of existing knowledge.

Students attending the Buttonhole class in the morning are welcome to do this class for $33. Please advise when you register interest.
