Come and learn how to knit with Shirley and Maryanne. Sit on our couches, have a cup of tea or coffee if you want, and we’ll show you how to make a scarf or a cowl. Cowls are easy to make (Maryanne’s cowl in progress is in the photo) and suit Wellington’s winds as they can’t blow away like scarves can. But, scarves are a great and warm fashion statement and a great gift for a man in your life too.
The objective of the class, besides creating something beautiful, is to give you lots of practice knitting the basic knit stitch, learning to keep the sides of your garment straight and your tension even. You will learn to read the information on wool labels. We discuss the various yarns and learn about test samples. You will be shown how to change colours for those of you wishing to use more than one coloured wool yarn in your garment.
This is a four week course – week one is a teaching class, and weeks two and three are for company, sharing ideas and getting tips on the progress of your project, and week four is a class showing you how to finish your project properly, and to discuss possible next makes.
We can teach both left and right handed knitters too 🙂
The tuition fee is $70 for the four weeks. The cost for needles and yarn will range from $17 to $30 depending on which project you select (this is 20% off normal prices).
This class is on Friday mornings.
