You don’t need any sewing or interior decorating experience.
The tuition fee is $130, which includes all of the frame and construction materials used. Does not include fashion fabric, which you supply.
How to choose a fabric:
Light background prints work best for lampshades used to provide light for reading, darker fabrics are great for creating cosy atmosphere. A printed fabric is better for beginners than a plain, as it is more likely to hide any less than perfect bits. Stripes and plaids are tricky and require patience and accuracy – so please give them a miss!
Ideal fabrics include closely woven medium weight linen, curtain weight cottons or linens, and quilting cottons or linens. Unsuitable fabrics include silks, polyesters or rayon/viscose, loosely woven fabrics and treated polyester or acrylic canvas (deck chair/awning types) so please give them a miss. We have a big range of suitable fabrics in store from as little as $16m.
If you are unsure, do bring us a sample and we can advise.
